Biography

​Professor Dominic Harmon is a UCD MD graduate, 1994. 

 

Professor Harmon completed his medical training and higher specialist training in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine in Ireland, he passed the postgraduate professional exams of the Fellowship of the College of Anaesthetists of Ireland (FCARCSI) in 1999. 

 

During his medical school undergraduate training and anaesthetic training, Professor Harmon developed strong interests in pain medicine.  Professor Harmon has extended his unique pain training with qualifications in Musculoskeletal Medicine and Psychology and a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Professor Harmon has a wide range of experience in cancer pain, non-cancer pain, interventional procedures for acute and chronic pain conditions, including neuromodulation. His specialist interests are mainly Interventional and multidisciplinary treatment of chronic pain.

He believes appropriate medication and intervention can give good relief to many patients with chronic pain. Particularly when combined with pain management which includes physiotherapy/exercise and psychological therapy.
